The Texeler sheep have grazed this windswept island since the 1800s, when the sheep farmers crossed native stock with English breeds to create a sheep renowned for superior wool quality.
This heritage became Texeler's foundation in 1984, when local entrepreneur Dick Graaf took over a traditional craft from an aging islander who made wool bedding by hand for diabetes and rhematoid patients.
Starting with bathtub-washed wool and homemade carding equipment, Texeler grew from humble beginnings to their current modern facility - but the essence remains pure. The same breed of sheep, the same island, the same commitment to natural quality.
Now in our fifth decade, we combine generations of island expertise with precision equipment, honoring both the centuries-old Texel breed and the craft tradition Dick Graaf preserved.
